Here at Ohio Premier Archery, our goal is to provide every archer with the ability to improve their skills regardless of where they are starting or what they want to achieve. Our coaches have a wide variety of knowledge and experience that supports everything they teach.
Beginner Coaching: $65/hour
Advanced Coaching: requires consultation
Group Coaching: requires consultation
Although limited, we are now accepting new students for private 1-on-1 coaching. At this time, only new students who are available outside of regular pro shop hours (mornings or evenings) will be accepted. Please call to schedule a lesson or contact us to be added to the waitlist if you are only available during pro shop hours.
While there is no age limit, the student must be physically able to shoot a bow safely (either their own or one of our rentals) and capable of listening to the instructor. Generally, we find that kids can safely start between the ages of 6 and 8 based on size and strength.
Our coaches design a program fit specifically for the student. While there is a basic progression in archery, the student’s goal(s) will be the number one priority. While lessons are open to anyone, only those who put in the effort to practice on their own will truly see the improvements they are looking for.
While having your own equipment is preferred, it is by no means required and we have plenty of rental bows you can use during lessons. Personal equipment is recommended because practicing between sessions is essential to improving as an archer. We understand that archery can be an expensive hobby and therefore we know not everyone will have their own equipment.
Generally, lessons are held once per week or every other week. We know life can be busy, so we do our best to fit your schedule. Most archers spend an hour with their coach during each session, but accommodations can be made for longer or shorter sessions.
Everybody’s goals are going to be different and range from just having fun to winning national tournaments to hunting. Knowing your personal goals is the most important piece of achieving success, but most goals fall back on having good form. As coaches, our goal is to get you to the point where you are confident enough to no longer need our help.
While it may differ from coach to coach, in general, they will review your shooting experience and goals with you. Then they will likely watch you shoot for a bit before making any changes. Your first lesson is generally about learning who you are as an archer and gauging how lessons are going to run moving forward.
While some upgrades in equipment can make you shoot better, correct form is often the most important factor in shooting well. Lessons are an investment in your archery career. If you set a goal and achieve it, you don’t need to continue lessons - they are individualized for a reason.
Archery 201 provides archers with previous experience an opportunity to continue improving their skills and increasing their archery knowledge.

Thank you to everyone who has attended one of our previous group programs!
At this time, we do not have any group programs scheduled, but we have reopened private 1-on-1 coaching (limited availability) for those interested. For archers with some experience, we encourage you to visit our calendar/events page for local and national outdoor shoots. For anyone interested in experiencing archery for the first time, please check back again soon for group programs.
When courses are available, you may either pay online, call and pay over the phone, or stop by the shop to pay with cash, card, or check.
It is suggested that all archers attending Archery 201 have their own equipment as practicing on your own is highly recommended. If you do not have your equipment, we do have rental equipment for use (Genesis or recurve bows only).
There is no archery-specific clothing, but comfortable close-toed shoes are recommended. We also suggest you avoid wearing extra baggy or flowy shirts that may interfere with the string.
Archery 201 is only for those who have attended our Intro to Archery course(s) a minimum of once (preferably more) or who have prior approval by an instructor.
Our Intro to Archery course is designed for those who have never shot before or have limited experience and are interested in learning the basics of archery.
Although we suggest kids be at least 8 years old to shoot, children under 8 who are coordinated and can follow all instructions are welcome to sign up.
